Accomplishments
Being at the birth of my children, graduating ASU's college of engineering after 11 years of being a part-time student, full-time father and working sometimes three jobs at a time.
Impact of Cancer
I met Laura Fial in August 2000 through a close friend of mine who was working for the Arizona Institute of Breast Health. Laura was looking for song writers to aid her in her mission to change her devastating diagnosis into a cause that would aid her and other cancer survivors in networking and just all around activities that encourage healing, camaraderie and a positive attitude.
I auditioned my music for Laura in her kitchen. Laura’s boundless energy and contagious laughter let me know immediately I was in the right place. She liked my songs and our first CD had 50 women cancer survivors in the studio recording with a choir director from a local elementary school. I was privileged to contribute two songs on that CD and some guitar work on a couple of others. Numerous TV appearances preceded the CD release party held early in 2000. 1200 attendees at Scottsdale’s West World gave all the women who participated a cause to celebrate and celebrate we did!
Seven years and five CDs later I’ve been privileged to play guitar for Laura and the Soul Survivors choir at dozens of events and TV appearances. I’ve added a couple more compositions and studio guitar work in addition to becoming a board member and helping to design and manage the website. And in return I have received tons of hugs, tears and new friends added to my life. For me most of all participating in Sing for Life Breast Cancer Foundation reminds me to be thankful and grateful for each moment here on Earth as God’s gift to be embraced with appreciation and happiness.
Hobbies
Rock climbing. Back packing the Grand Canyon for 15 years I’ve covered more than 700 miles of back country and three summits. Jazz guitar. Love skiing. hiking and camping. Outdoors AZ. Slacklining
