Community Involvement
Soul Survivor Group
The Soul Survivor group consists of any and all members of our wonderful Sing4life community who wish to utilize music and song as a support resource. Open to all community members, the Soul Survivor Group has grown in leaps and bounds and has become an integral part of the success of the Sing4life organization. The Soul Survivors are committed to rehearsals and performances at various venues year around as well as an annual CD release every year.
The Soul Survivors support each other’s mammograms, doctor’s visits, celebrations, and triumphs. The ability to sing together is a gift that gives each and every day. We encourage all to join and share in our wonderful times together.
Please check back as we will be posting the Soul Survivor music clips following the release of our next album.
Activities
Some of the things you can expect when participating with the Sing For Life Breast Cancer Foundation of Arizona:
Practice
The Soul Survivor group meets twice a month for practice. While these sessions are designed to prepare their music, it is allso a wonderful opportunity to share support, camaraderie and fellowship that everybody always takes full advantage of. It is where laughter and good friends come together; sometimes with tears and sometimes with help for someone in need. Under the direction of professional Director Ron Casola's, this is the time to join voices and build harmony. It’s a jam session and a networking experience; It’s singing lessons and listening to good musicians; It’s something you have to be involved in ... it’s the Soul Survivor’s community in action!
Events
Soul Survivor events are posted in the calendar. Some months have no events while other months, like October, are packed with events. The events come about from our board members network of friends and the supporters we’ve built up over the years.
The choir has sung the “Star Spangled Banner” at Diamondback, Coyote and Phoenix Mercury games and played for two to three customers at an empty Barnes and Noble’s book store on a Friday night. We’ve appeared on Sonoran Living, Good Morning Arizona, and all the local channels on numerous occasions to promote upcoming events and awareness of our organization. There are women’s expos, corporate functions, wine tastings and who-knows-what fun opportunities the future will reel in.
Recording
The organization is putting together funds and the choir is working hard to return to the studio and record its 5th CD. Recording studio sessions are expensive, time consuming and tedious but if you’ve ever dreamed of participating in a professional recording session this might be for you. The pressure‘s on to get it right and the sound engineers working the “board” know when its right. Check out some of our results here.
October Main Event
Every October in honor of National Breast Cancer awareness month we roll out the latest CD along with different fundraising activities. We recognize scholarship recipients and put on a show with live local musicians and celebrities. The music is upbeat and full of positive affirmations. You say it, then you sing it, and soon you are part of the healing solution. There’s food, drink, entertainment and a chance to come together as a Survivor community where we can support and heal one another.
